Some innovations emerge not from sudden inspiration, but from the determination to solve a problem that has persisted for far too long.
For years, our team built advanced software tools for mining, supporting some of the most complex operations in the mining industry. But through that experience, we encountered a deeper, more systemic challenge: operational data was everywhere, yet nowhere truly connected. Critical information lived in disconnected systems, locked in incompatible formats, and trapped within isolated workflows. Decisions were made in silos.
We recognized that the real opportunity wasn’t just improving individual tools. It was addressing the foundational issue: unifying data across the entire operation. Harmonizing it. Structuring it. Giving context to it so organizations could analyze, learn, and act with confidence.
That realization became the foundation of our solution, SourceOne. But what began as a focused solution for the mining sector evolved into a system with broad, cross-industrial application. And so, Eclipse Mining Technologies grew to become Eclipse Data Innovations as a reflection of the wider impact of the technology we deliver today.

Fred Banfield
FRED BANFIELD
Our Chairman of the Board and founding partner, Fred Banfield, is widely recognized as a trailblazer in mining technology, with a career spanning over 50 years.
Over the decades, he has worked on a wide range of mining projects worldwide, including auditing reserve calculations and mine plans, database development, and designing and implementing computerized reserve systems. He has also developed ultimate pit limits and open-pit mining schedules and implemented financial models for mining projects.
Fred earned his bachelor’s degree as an Engineer of Mines from the Colorado School of Mines. After serving in the U.S. Army, he became Director of the Applications Division at Computech Research Ltd.
In 1970, Fred co-founded Mintec, Inc., a consulting and software development firm focused on applying computer techniques to the mineral industry where he served as chairman until 2014.
Fred’s contributions have earned him numerous accolades. In 2007, he received the Daniel C. Jackling Award from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration for his significant technological contribution to mining geology and geophysics.
He was inducted into the American Mining Hall of Fame in 2014 and the International Mining Technology Hall of Fame in 2015. He is a member of CIMM and SME and served on the Board of Directors of Seabridge Gold, Inc until 2021.
Susan Wick
SUSAN WICK
Susan Wick has spent over three decades impacting the evolution of mining technology. Entering the industry in the 1980s, she became one of the early female leaders helping to open doors.
Her career includes an impressive tenure as Chief Operating Officer at Mintec, where she led the company’s international expansion, ultimately establishing offices on every continent and helping grow the organization to more than 250 employees.
As Chief Executive Officer of Eclipse Data Innovations, Susan guides the company’s strategic vision and overall direction. A fluent speaker of both Spanish and Portuguese, she brings extensive experience in international negotiations corporate management.
Susan inspires her teams to think bigger and deliver more creative and innovative solutions.
In recognition of her outstanding and long-time service in various capacities to the Mining and Minerals Education Foundation since 1992, she was endowed with an honorary lifetime membership in 2023.

As Chief Operations Officer and Head of Marketing, Karin Boan shapes the policies that strengthen company culture and drive the organization’s strategic vision forward.
She began her career after earning a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Sciences, moving quickly into roles that spanned diverse business operations. Her experience includes serving as Operations Manager in banking before joining the team at Mintec as Office Manager and ultimately Director of Operations at Hexagon Mining.
With nearly two decades of operational leadership, including 13 years in the technology and mining sectors, Karin has built a reputation for ensuring organizations run with precision and efficiency.
She provides strategic guidance aligned with business goals, streamlines day-to-day operations, and invests in identifying and developing emerging talent across the company.
Rudy Moctezuma
RUDY MOCTEZUMA
Rudy Moctezuma plays a central role in realizing Eclipse’s vision as our Chief Business Relations Officer. He leads the commercial strategy across regions, identifying new business opportunities, shaping product development needs, and ensuring our solutions align with client goals.
He oversees all Sales and Customer Relationship functions, backed by deep industry insight and a comprehensive understanding of both our business and the broader mining landscape.
With nearly three decades of professional experience, Rudy brings extensive underground and open-pit mining expertise spanning operations, modeling, planning, workflow optimization, and organizational improvement.
Rudy is known for his transparent and highly personalized approach to client relationships.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Throughout his career at Mintec/Hexagon Mining, Rudy served as Technical Services Manager, Director of Operations, Global Sales, and Director of Client Relations, gaining the experience that now informs his leadership at Eclipse.
Sean Hunter
SEAN HUNTER
Sean Hunter has been a key contributor to Eclipse Data Innovations since its inception and currently serves as the Director of Product Development, guiding the evolution of the company’s core technology.
While studying game engine development in college, Sean developed a strong interest in high-performance computing. After graduating, he joined Mintec, Inc., provider of mining software, where he applied these skills to real-world industrial challenges. He advanced from a junior to a principal developer, gaining knowledge of the mining industry while sharpening his technical expertise.
When Eclipse was formed, Sean joined as the principal software architect and has led the product’s coding efforts since day one. He has played a critical role in the design and development of the SourceOne® Enterprise Knowledge Performance System and continues to guide its technical direction.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in Real-Time Interactive Simulation (RTIS). His academic foundation includes STEM-based modeling for complex, real-time systems, encompassing physics-based simulations, AI and machine learning, high-performance and responsive programming, algorithm analysis, and advanced graphics.

Mounir’s primary focus is driving our product management and ensuring we deliver the highest quality products to our clients.
With a passion for unraveling complex problems and a commitment to driving innovation through knowledge engineering, Mounir is focused on defining next-gen systems that utilize knowledge engineering and data science specializations in the realms of ontology, relational graph theory, embeddings, machine learning, data modeling, and knowledge systems to solve engineering and scientific challenges in new ways.
In his career, he has successfully tackled a wide array of engineering and scientific problems, from optimizing the physical design of submicron semiconductor design through innovative advanced 3D modeling to full systems and operations modeling. His commitment to innovation and problem-solving, combined with deep technical knowledge makes him an invaluable contributing member and thought leader on any endeavor requiring the mastery of knowledge-driven solutions.
With over 25 years of experience, Mounir has helped companies improve their business operations to achieve operational efficiency, identify new opportunities, and develop innovative strategies.

Senior Software Architect · Tucson, Arizona
Job Summary:
In this position, you will utilize your ample experience to help design the high-level structure, provide strategic direction, and technical standards of our data platform. The ideal candidate will possess a deep expertise in system design, high-performance computing, distributed systems, and a high level of proficiency in C and C++. You will work closely with the Director of Product Development to bring the company’s innovative vision to life and with the development team to implement and maintain that vision.
This is a full-time position to be worked out of our Tucson, Arizona office.
Responsibilities
- Ensure scalability, performance, and security.
- Implement efficient solutions for mathematical modeling and simulation.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes that align with the architecture, business plans and long-term strategy to ensure the highest quality product platform.
- Perform analysis, estimate work, design and update software architecture.
- Guide development team to ensure production and maintenance of high quality, tested and efficient code, following industry standards.
- Provide guidance on compatibility and integration to ensure an integrated architecture across disparate products and technologies.
- Communicate with stakeholders and engineers to ensure technology stack consistency across different teams and requirements are met.
- Develop proof of concepts for new, innovative solutions.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- At least 8-10 years of experience in C/C++
- Extensive knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Experience writing high performance code (SIMD, cache conscious design)
- Experience writing large-scale multithreaded systems (lockless programming, paradigms, best practices)
- Experience working with large data sources (SQL, Parquet, streaming, others)
- Experience designing and implementing large software systems
- Experience designing APIs for internal and external use
- Knowledge of mathematics (statistics, geometry, linear algebra, operations research) a plus
- Knowledge of machine learning (feature engineering, modeling techniques) a plus
- Knowledge of simulation (Discrete event simulation, monte carlo methods, distributions) a plus
- Knowledge of networking code (sockets, encryption, services, use libraries, best practices) a plus
